ARYMS and a Website to house them.
http://aryms.kd8cmv.us/index.htm
I'm working on learning as much as I can about my new hobby. I'm even
thinking of getting into code; not sure if I can do it, but I'll give it
a go!
There are a few of us XYLs
and YLs that will be getting together from the
TARC and
LHARC
to get more women and children interested in Amateur Radio. We are also
working on general interest projects and youth projects for Field Day
and the annual Ham Picnic. If you have any ideas or comments you can
send them directly to
me or
to TARC
or LHARC
and it will be directed to the appropriate
individual(s).
Working on my own
conference server set up on
Echolink for us YLs with the help of
some friends,
N7PST,
W7RSS, &
KC8YCZ.
Thanks so much to them and a special thanks to Phil for hosting our
server!

Yes, you OMs are also allowed
to join us as well, if you play nice. *wink
I'm also making a
Web site
for it as well.
I think this will help some
women get over their mic shyness.
Being a YL
myself, I know how they feel. I was quite shy once myself. I know,
who knew! HI HI
Some say,
"what do I talk about, the weather? LOL"
It does seem
overbearing when you're not sure what to say and how it will come
across.
And what would we talk about?
Just about anything our little
heart desires, within reason of course, as long as we follow the
rules and regulations of Ham Radio.
Whether you're
just starting out as a new Ham or just curious and want to test the
water by doing third party conversations for you non-Hams, we'll
make you feel comfortable. For those that don't know much about Ham Radio, you won't
feel so pressured to only discuss just that.
I know, it can make you
feel inferior when you don't feel competent to speak on some subject
matter.
Hence, one of the reasons YLs are shy about talking where
men will hear them. You won't feel "stupid" for asking questions or
feel like someone is being sarcastic and condescending when
answering.
Believe me,
I know how you feel!
Just hop
over to the
YAKSHAK Web site and check it out.
Or, if you
feel brave enough to talk or just want to listen in, hop over to
Echolink Node # 286555 *YAKSHAK* Conference Server, sit back a
spell and listen in. No harm in just listening, right!
Would anyone be interested in
an SK blocker/identifier for
Echolink? If you're interested in such
a project, please
email me if you'd like to participate.
It would actually be an add
on I suppose you could say. This will help stop non-hams from using a SK
callsign to obtain access to
Echolink. This is identity theft and
should be viewed as such and be stopped. We worked hard to obtain our
license; let's not let our hobby be tarnished by those wishing to "five
finger discount" their way in.
There are several websites
that I've been working on besides this one. Some, are under constant
construction due to additions that must be added or updated, others I've
just started. Any in white haven't been started, but will be soon.
Tutorials If you want some good tips on "how"
to create your tutorial, a good site to visit would be
Screenshots.
